William Lawrence Renfro "Billy", age 66 passed away peacefully on July 12, 2019, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life.
Billy was born on June 8, 1953 in Elizabethton, TN to his parents Barbara Poarch and William Renfro. He was graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1972. He accepted a position as a machinist at Atomic City Tool and Gage and went to Y-12 thereafter. He worked for more than 17 years between the two.
Billy was a Christian, a great family man and a loving father who loved the Lord. Billy was a member of Royce Baptist Church. Billy was a social, active man who was deeply involved in riding Harley Davidson motorcycles for most of his life. He also enjoyed fishing, and camping. Billy was a Golden Gloves of Oak Ridge Coach winning coach of the year in 1986. His family and friends will always remember him as a unique, fun-loving, one of a kind, loving person who loved his family and children.
He is preceded in death by his parents Barbara Jean Renfro and William Jack Renfro of Elizabethton, his aunt Vivian Schermerhorn of Oliver Springs.
Billy is survived by his children Lakeisha Renfro and William Shane Renfro. Grandkids: Isaiah Baker, Mykela Renfro, Michael Renfro (Carlie), Nevaeh Renfro, Elijah Bingham-Flowers. Hayden Renfro, Adilee Renfro and Kimsley Renfro-Thornton. One great grandson Ayden His sister Patricia Renfro Miller (Steve Miller) of Kingston; his sister MaryAnne Hudson (Scott Hudson), of Clinton; his brother Jimmy Poarch (Sandra Poarch) of Sevierville; and his brother Michael Poarch (Donna Poarch) of West Virginia.
Survived by a special Aunt Jo Ann Ogle (Larry Ogle) of Clinton, and Uncle Jack Schermerhorn.
Billy is also survived by several cousins a special brother and friend Dean Hopper, as well as several special friends/nurses: Danielle Whitt, Christy Whitt, Lauschane Ray, Kimberly Floyd, Camilla Stewart, Katrina Collette, and Tina Nunn.
A funeral is scheduled for Billy on July 17 ,2019 at the Martins Funeral Home, receiving of friends will be from 5 pm-7 pm and funeral following from 7 pm-8 pm Rev Mike Harbin will officiate. Burial services will be held on July 18, 2019. Family will be leaving Martins Funeral Home at 1:30 PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Billy's life. The family would like to thank Hand N Hand Home Healthcare and all nurses for taking such great care of Billy.
