Warren Edward Gritton "Popaw", age 89, of Oak Ridge formerly of Pomona, CA passed away Wednesday July 13, 2011.
Warren was born October 4, 1921 in Edgington, IL to the late Clarence and Ethel Robbins Gritton. Warren was known for his loving smile and his love for people. He enjoyed fishing and remodeling planes. Warren was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII having earned the American Area Asiatic, Pacific 7 Stars, Good Conduct, and Victory Medals.
Warren was of the protestant faith and was also preceded in death by his first wife Lola Gritton, brothers Bert and Lonnie Gritton, and sister Ruth Bennett. Warren is survived by his wife Louise of Oak Ridge, step son James Gentry and his wife Connie of Knoxville, who together owned and operated Family Recreation Center on Illinois Ave. for many years, and a brother Eldon Gritton and his wife Daphny of CA.
The family will receive friends Saturday July 16, 2011 11:00am till 1:00pm at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with an entombment service with full military honors following at the Mausoleum in Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
