Walter Allen Lounsbery passed away on August 11, 2021 suddenly. He was born in Kansas City, MO and attended North Kansas City High. Walt later lived in Wichita, KS and Dallas, TX where he met his wife Lisa at a Tall Texans gathering both were attending. They together moved to Claxton Community in 2007.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Joanna Lounsbery, sister Jan Lounsbery Battor and brother in law Richard Battor. He is survived by his devoted wife and adventure partner Lisa Lounsbery, sisters-in-law Stacy Hammerbacher Dean (Russell) and Alyssa Steel Hammer, and many friends.
Walt attended the University of Missouri at Rolla obtaining a Bachelors and Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering. He was extremely proud that in 1974 he won the National Science Fair and the trophy is still in his home today. Walt before he retired worked for Boeing Wichita, Lockhead Martin, General Dynamics, and Gulfstream. After his aerospace career he became a Web developer, and then an Entrepreneur in retirement.
Walt liked many different activities. He was always getting "Farkbook" Facebook strikes with his posts and he was an aviation enthusiast since his degrees were in Aerospace Engineering. He enjoyed flying his airplane, RC planes, cruising, hiking, scuba diving, micro-breweries, cats and of course Politics. Walt worked on numerous political campaigns, loved Roberts Rules of Order, was the former president of the EAA Chapter 17 and the former president of Tall Texans of Dallas. He belonged to Knox County Radio Control Society, EAA Chapter 17, Society of Professional Journalists, Tall Texans of Dallas and Entrepreneurs of Knoxville.
There will be no formal services per the family's wishes at this time. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Secret City Animal Rescue either by mail to 969 Oak Ridge Turnpike #331, Oak Ridge TN 37830 or via their facebook page SCAR. All who know the Lounsbery's know their love for their Cats.
