Obituary for Virginia Elizabeth Ladd Brock 1928 – 2024
Virginia Elizabeth Ladd Brock, age 96, of Oak Ridge, originally from Harriman, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024.
Virginia’s life was one of faith, service, and dedication to her family and community. A lifelong member of First Christian Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder. She also served as president of the Oak Ridge Women’s Club and participated in the Christian Women’s Club. For 31 years, Virginia dedicated herself as a volunteer at Methodist Medical Center. She retired from her volunteer work in 2023 at the age of 95.
Professionally, Virginia worked at Watson’s and later at the OBGYN Physicians office in Oak Ridge.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Brock; her parents, Elmer and Hattie Ladd; and her siblings, Roy Ladd, Lucille Plemons, Margaret Jo Freeman, Billie Ladd, and Charles Ladd.
She leaves behind a loving legacy in her children, Cathy Glass (Ken), Sue Foster (Steve), and Chris Baker (Joe); her grandchildren, Haleigh Baker, Holden Baker (Alli), Emily Hudson (Matt), Ginger Lewis (Chad), Dorothy Parker (Dave), Melanie Seaver (Bill), Michelle Emmert (Luke), and Monica Schmeider (Lance); as well as twenty-four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Mott-McKamey Funeral Home on Thursday, December 26, at 10:30 a.m-12:00 p.m. Funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Graveside service will follow the funeral at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
