Mr. Patton was born October 24, 1942 at their family home in Henderson County, TN to James Floyd Patton and Gertrude May (Lease) Patton.
Mr. Patton served in the United States Navy sailing on the USS Boxer and also the Naval Ceremonial Guard in Washington DC. He received an Honourable Discharge in 1963 and received a Good Conduct medal for his services. After his Naval Service Mr. Patton worked for the Memphis Light Gas & Water Utility District until 1993 when he retired to start yet another career in construction with his son Tim and daughter Tina. Mr. Patton ultimately retired in 1997.
Mr. Patton met the love of his life Lynda in Atwood City, TN and they married on April 16, 1964 and primarily resided in Collierville, TN. They welcomed three children into their family: Timothy (1966), Tammie (1970), and Tina (1972).
Mr. Patton was a John Wayne type of man. Just a certain look from him would instantaneously gain attention of those in his stare. Yet he cared about the well-being of all of those he came into contact with. His house in Collierville would always be the attraction of the local children and you never knew what goodies, excitement, or adventure you might find when visiting. He always had candies, chocolate, popcorn and freshly caught fried fish available.
Mr. Patton was also a gardening and flower enthusiast. In less than a year he united his new community in Harriman with the produce and plants from his own personal garden. He also continued with his generous and caring attitude in life by turning his yard swing and a cup of coffee into a community gathering point for great conversation. His Christmas lights were the talk of the neighbourhood both in Collierville and Harriman.
Mr. Patton is preceded in death by his wife Lynda (Pillow) and his sister Jackie Swafford. He is survived by his children Timothy (wife Judy), Tammie (husband Sam Blum), & Tina (husband Scott Dempsey), grandchildren Joey (wife Victoria), Jamie (husband Jason James), Christina (husband Brian Costner), Aubrey (husband Chris Lambert), Samantha, Colby (wife Erika), & Elijah, Mitch, and JC, great grandchildren Hannah, Mary Lou, Josie, and Tucker, as well as his sisters JoJo Moncher, Dot James, & Glenna Grissom.
