Speas Hinshaw, 89, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, passed away on June 2, 2011. He was a beloved father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy and his brother Bob Hinshaw. He is survived by his two sons, Steve and Thornton, with his wife Ann and their two children, Sarah and Chris, niece Connie Owens , and several other nieces and nephews.
Speas served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on various aircraft carries. He later worked in the space program at Cape Kennedy, FL in support of the manned and unmanned space program. He retired from Union Carbide in Oak Ridge on March 1, 1984.
His hobbies included genealogy and model trains. After he retired, he pursued a lifelong long dream to visit the western United States.
A funeral service will be held Saturday June 4, 2011 1:00pm in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Forrester officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00 to 1:00 at the funeral Home.
