MULLINIX, THOMAS F. - 86, of Oak Ridge passed away March 19, 2011. Tom was born in Louisville, KY and moved to Oak Ridge in 1945.
He retired from Union Carbide after 37 years of service at K-25 as an electrical engineer. He was very active in politics and sports. He was an active member of the Oak Ridge Elks Lodge and supporter of the Oak Ridge Boys Club.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Johnnie. He was also preceded in death by his son Gary. He is survived by his daughter Joyce Johnson of Chattanooga; son Greg of St. Petersburg, FL and son Randy of Oak Ridge; son-in-law Johnny Johnson, Chattanooga; and daughter-in-law Barbara Mullinix, St. Petersburg, FL. He is also survived by 5 grandsons, 3 great granddaughters and 2 great-great granddaughters. The family would like to thank special friends Ronnie and Brenda Fritts for their love and care.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 25th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Oak Ridge Elks Lodge Education Fund
