Shirley Payne Moody, 81, of Oak Ridge, is in the care of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Shirley passed away July 10, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, Tenn. She was born Jan. 31, 1936, in Townsend, Tenn., to Taylor and Pauline Payne.
She was a high school and business college graduate, but loved her time at home as a homemaker and mother to her four children. Shirley was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and had a love for the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Taylor and Pauline Payne and brother, Terry Payne.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years, Eugene Max Moody, of Oak Ridge; daughters, Susan D. Brown, Donna E. Moody and Stacey L. Murray and son, Jeffery E. Moody (Dawn), all of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; sister, Christina Stinnett; sister-in-law, Pat Payne; five grandchildren and threee great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family has chosen cremation with a private service with cremated remains being scattered at her favorite spot in the Smoky Mountains at a later date.
