Sarah Hannah

June 8, 1931 — June 16, 2021

The family and friends of Sarah Ella Hannah were saddened by her passing from
complications of pneumonia on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Tennova Turkey Creek
Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. Sarah was born Sarah Ella Kegley on June 8, 1931 in
Knoxville. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1949, and then she spent a year
and a half in the Fort Sanders nurses training program where she met James Taylor
Hannah whose mother was a patient there.
Sarah and Jim married January 8, 1951. They raised four children in the historic Harvey
H. Hannah home in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. She also worked at Magnet Mills in
Clinton until its closure. Then later, following her passion in the medical field, she was a
unit secretary at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge until her retirement after 25
years of service there.
Sarah was also a creative crafter. She loved crocheting, scherenschnitte, and even learned
to do leaded stained glass, creating beautiful designs of her own as well as following
patterns. However, Sarah's great lifelong passion was gardening. She was a member of
the Heritage Rose Society and, at one time, had over one hundred different varieties of
roses in her garden.
She is survived by:
Her four children - Martha J. Neal (James E. Neal) of Harriman, TN; James David
Hannah of Spencer, TN; Mary Elizabeth Bradley (John Bradley) of Knoxville, TN;
and Rebecca J. Taylor of Knoxville, TN.;
Her seven grandchildren - Christopher Moneymaker (Jolene Moneymaker),
Melissa Loy (Jason Loy), Jamie Hannah, Annette Hannah, Adam Bradley, Matthew
Bradley (Susan Bradley), and Robert Farmer (Chelsey Farmer);
Her six great grandchildren - Gennavieve Moneymaker Norman, Atira Ayres, Nora
Loy, Araiah Loy, Tristen Loy, Evan Oliver and Jonathan Wilson and one great
great grandson - Huey K. Loy.
She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Clinton, Tennessee where she
was a part of the Trinity Women's Circle.
The receiving of friends will be held at Martin's Funeral Home in Oak Ridge, on Sunday,
December 19, 2021, from 5 - 7 P.M., Memorial Service following with the Rev. Kenneth
Faught officiating. Interment will be at 2:00pm Monday December 20, 2021
at Oak Ridge Memorial Park
