Roy P. Norris, Jr., age 83, of Oak Ridge passed away Thursday December 8, 2011 at Golden Living Center- Windwood in Clinton.
Roy was born February 2, 1928 in Murfreesboro, TN to the late Roy P. Norris, Sr. and Margaret Carlton Norris. After graduation for college Roy moved to Oak Ridge in the early 1950's where he met his future wife Betty and they were married in August of 1954.Roy is retired from Martin Marietta after 45 years of service as a chemist. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oak Ridge and enjoyed working in his yard.
Preceded in death by his wife Betty Lee Norris Roy is survived by his son Joseph Scott Norris of Oak Ridge, daughter Lola Norris Blocker and her husband Jim of Johnson City, TN, sister Eleanor Hardison of Monteagle, TN, granddaughter Brittany B. Thomas and her husband Michael of Johnson, City, TN, and two great grandchildren Braylon Thomas and Briggs Thomas.
Funeral services were held Saturday December 10, 2011 2:00pm in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Craig W. Hendrix officiating. Interment followed at Oak Ridge Memorial park. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be sent to the American Heart Association 1101 Northchase Parkway Marietta, GA 30067.
