Robert Raymond Marlowe, age 87, passed away at the Alexander Guest House on April 10, 2025. He is in the care of the Mott-Mckamey Funeral Home in Oak Ridge.
He was born on December 27, 1937 in Duff, Tennessee to Floyd and Alta Ayers Marlowe. Robert graduated from Campell County High School. He continued his education at Lincoln Memorial University, where he received a BA in History. He then earned a Master’s in Educational Administration from the University of Tennessee. He worked his entire career for Anderson County Schools, first as a teacher, then a curriculum specialist, and finally as director of pupil personnel. After his retirement he continued his interest in local history by researching the genealogy of his family. He donated his findings to the Campbell County Historical Society. Robert also actively participated in charity work with the Children’s Defense Fund, Foster Care Review Board and Anderson County Community Action.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeannette Mayes Marlowe, brothers Wade and Curtis Marlowe and sister, Alma Bragg. He is survived by older daughter Susanna Marlowe, her husband, Marc Lord, and their sons, Jacob Marlowe Lord, and Nathan Marlowe Lord and Nathan’s wife, Mackenzie Gerber-Lord and son, Jensen Elliot Gerber-Lord. He is also survived by younger daughter, Alta Marlowe Miller, her partner, Stephen Drew, and her son, Tony Miller. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Joyce Marlowe, brother, Malcom Marlowe and wife Delores, and brother David Marlowe and wife Beth.
Funeral service and internment are private. Expressions of love may be made in lieu of flowers to your favorite charity in Robert’s honor.
