ROBERT PATRICK (BOB) LUTTRELL

Born on June 25, 1942, in Frankfort, KY, Robert Patrick (Bob) Luttrell, beloved son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the age of 81 years.

Bob was an active member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Nashville, TN and was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oak Ridge, TN where he was an active participant for 70 years. He was an altar server, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fall Festival treasurer, a finance and school council member, and an employee of the White Elephant. He lived a life of active service in the church his entire life.

Bob was in the first graduating class of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Oak Ridge and graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School in 1960. He received a degree by the skin of his teeth, and the intentional loss of a handball match, from Christian Brothers College in Memphis in 1968. He then enlisted in the Air Force and completed his tour of duty in Labrador, Newfoundland. It was there that he met his wife, Barbara Ann Boulos, who will tell you that it was his piercing blue eyes, and the fact that he was Catholic, that sealed the deal. They were married November 9, 1968 and spent their honeymoon driving to Greenville, TN where Bob had accepted a job at Magnavox. In 1970 he began working for the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, TN where he served as an accountant and then as a nuclear auditor until his retirement.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Bishop Clay and Mary Cecelia (Barr) Luttrell, his brother George Vincent Luttrell, and 2 sisters, Sr. Joann Frederick (Agnes) Luttrell and Mary Margaret (Peggy) Luttrell and will be remembered by his siblings: Jane Frederica Klobe, and John Joseph Luttrell. Bob took great pride in his 6 children and will be lovingly remembered by: Cathy Ann (Kirk) Cornett, Theresa Marie Sells, John Bishop (Leslie) Luttrell, Barbara Jane (Troy) Turner, Mary Cecelia (Steve) Smith, and Paul Anthony (Kaylee) Luttrell, his 19 grandchildren, his only great grandchild, Michael Christopher (Christianson) Doyle, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.

A Funeral Mass in memory of Bob will be held on Saturday, August 12, at St. Henry’s in Nashville, TN at 12:30 pm. The visitation will be held on Monday, August 14, at Mott-McKamey Funeral Home in Oak Ridge, TN from 9:00-10:30 am followed by the interment in Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton, TN at 11:00am. A reception will then be hosted at St. Mary’s Columbus Hall immediately following.
