Margaret "Peggy" Gibson, 84, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025. Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, to Clarence and Lula Brown, Peggy moved to Oak Ridge in 1944, where she built a life filled with love, faith, and family.

A proud graduate of Oak Ridge High School, Class of 1958, Peggy later dedicated her career to ORAU, retiring in 2015. She was a devoted and active member of Glenwood Baptist Church, where her faith was a guiding force in her life.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lula Brown, as well as her sister, Elizabeth Powers.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Sidney Gibson. The couple recently celebrated their anniversary this past December. She also leaves behind her two children, Charlie Gibson (Terry) and Ellen Lane (Buster); five grandchildren, Charles Gibson (Alexia), Tyler Lane, Taylor Lane (Jenny), Cameron Gibson (Brooke), and Sam Gibson; and seven great-grandchildren, Charles, Bennett, Bo, Harper, Miles, Hendrix, and Trevor. She is also survived by her siblings, Peter Brown and Nellie Brown Hall.

Peggy had a passion for cooking and found immense joy in spending time with her family. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held for her family and friends in her honor on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 12 Noon at Oak Ridge Memorial Park officiated by Dr. Mark Walton.
