Madge Elizabeth "Sunshine" Dyer Newton 91 of Oak Ridge passed away July 06, 2015 in Knoxville, Tn. Madge was born November 11, 1923 in Powell Tn. To Isaac and Lillian Dyer
Madge was a long time employee of Union Carbide Martin Marietta where she worked as a secretary for more than 30 years . Madge graduated from Karns High School in May 1942. Attended business school and within a year or two hired in at K25 in new city of Oak Ridge. Only a few miles from her home. One of the original "Girls of Atomic City" the book of that name. Married Mike in July 1965. Bridged her service when they came back to Oak Ridge. Retired in October 1985 with 30 years of service. Survived by stepchildren Annie Funke (Jim) of Bangor Michigan and Myron "Mickey" Newton, Jr. (Susan) of Buford Georgia. Three stepsons, their spouses and five step grandchildren - all of Michigan. Numerous nieces and nephews from Michigan and Alabama
Visitation with family and friends will be Wednesday July 08, 2015 from 12-2 PM in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with a funeral service at 2Pm with Jake Morrill officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Anderson Memorial Gardens
