Leighton Jackson

Leighton Haynes Jackson age 84 of Oliver Springs passed away January 28, 2017 at The Waters of Clinton. He was born July 17, 1932 at Fork Mountain, Tennessee to Wade and Hester Jackson.
Mr. Jackson graduated from Oliver Springs High School and obtained a degree from Florida State University as well as a degree from the University of Airforce
As a retired Senior Master Sargent Mr. Jackson served our country in the United States Air Force from 1950 until his retirement in 1977during that time he served in Korea and Vietnam as a First Sargent. Also served in the Free Masons for 55 years at Moody Masonic Lodge in Valdosta, Georgia. A very devoted family man who loved organic gardening and landscaping as well as the love for hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Wade and Hester Jackson and by his wife: Betty Matthews Jackson brother: Carl Jackson son: Greg Jackson. Leighton is survived by his son: Jeffrey Jackson of Oliver Springs, Tennessee grandson: Matthew Jackson of Cookeville, Tennessee granddaughters: Ashley Jackson of Clinton, Tennessee Kalynn Webb of Oliver Springs, Tennessee and Miranda Jones of Cookeville, Tennessee. Great granddaughter Mya Jackson of Cookeville, Tennessee. Sister and brother-in-law: Reba and Dean Bennett of North Carolina also Melba and Ed Tuell of Oliver Springs, Tennessee, daughter-in-law: Janie Rhea Jackson of Clinton, Tennessee and Jennifer Hendley of Oliver Springs, Tennessee. Sister-in-law: Marlene Jackson, of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Nieces: Pam Thompson of North Carolina, Colleen Petersen, Cara Bouma of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Angi Alred of Clinton,Tennessee. Nephew: Michael Tuell of Clinton, Tennessee Also a very special friend Daryl Lanxon of Sheffield, Illinois and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be 10:30am-1:00pm Thursday February 02, 2017 at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with a Masonic rites at 1:00 followed by a funeral service. Interment will be 3:00pm Thursday February 02, 2017 at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton, Tennessee.
