Joseph Robert Mincey, 70, of Knoxville passed away Thursday April 19, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Joe was born July 12, 1941 in Knoxville to the late James Richard and Gladys Baker Mincey. He was employed as a security guard at Y-12 until his retirement. Joe was of the Baptist faith and was a member of and had worked many years as manager at the Elks Lodge #1684 here in Oak Ridge. He always prepared superb buffet displaying many beautiful ice sculptures. Joe had a great sense of humor and made people smile. He loved deep sea fishing and taking cruises with his wife Carol. Joe was a United State Army veteran serving with the 1st Airborne Battle Group.
Preceded in death by his wife Carol, father-in-law Winfred Pate, brother-in-law Jerry Wells, sister-in-law Evelyn Marie Mincey, and niece Jennifer Mincey. Joe is survived by brothers; James Patrick Mincey and his wife Blanca, Charles Richard Mincey, brother-in-law Bobby Pate, mother-in-law Willie Pate, sisters-in-law DeLois Wells, and Sarah Pate and her husband Ralph, nieces and nephews Sherri Sutton and her daughter Samantha, Chelsea Wells and her son Aiden Crunk, Catlyn Wells, Karen Ware and her daughter Jennifer, Jeanette Mincey, Brian Mincey and his wife Kimberly, Kip Mincey, Travis Mincey, Jeff Mincey and his wife Misty and their children Gracie, Jason, and Justin, Drew Mincey, Brandon Mincey, and Michael Mincey and his wife Jeanette and their children Michael, Joseph, and Matthew, Kyle Pate and his children Brittany and Preston, and several close friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday April 21, 2012 from 12:00 to 2:00pm at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home followed by a committal service at the funeral home
