Joan Elizabeth Erickson

Born: August 24, 1934 in Depew, New York.

Died: Age 90 on August 28, 2024, Oak Ridge, TN after a short illness.

Until Feb. 2023, she resided in Camarillo, CA, and moved to be with her

daughter Julie’s family that same month.

Joan was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oak Ridge, TN, and formerly

attended Mt. Cross Lutheran Church in Camarillo, CA.

She was an alumnus of California Lutheran University in Thousand, Oaks, CA,

and earned both her Bachelor’s degree in 1969 and Master’s Degree in 1974.

She retired as a Kindergarten Teacher in 1993, working for Pleasant Valley

School District at Las Posas Elementary School. She then worked 3 more years for the

Diocese of Los Angeles as a Preschool Director at St. Columba Episcopal Church,

retiring in 1996.

Joan’s surviving family includes her brother Williiam Coffed (Clarence Center,

NY), and her daughters Cheryl Berger (Camarillo, CA), Marilyn Erickson (Simi Valley,

CA), Julie Longoria & husband Louis A. Longoria, and grandchildren Candace

Bourque (Juno, AK), Louis J. Longoria & Sarah R. Longoria (Oak Ridge, TN).

She is survived also by many nieces and nephews in New York, Michigan, and

Florida.

She is predeceased by her daughter, Karen Jones, who passed in 2007.

Services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church

in Oak Ridge, 131 W. Gettybury Ave. at 11:00 AM.

Memorial contributions are welcome to be made to the Music Fund at Grace

Lutheran Church, Oak Ridge.
