Jeanne Marie Gosselin Obituary
Jeanne Marie Cadrin Gosselin, born December 9, 1925, in St. Vallier, Quebec, Canada, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2024 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Michel Cadrin and Anaïse Boulanger Cadrin.
Jeanne attended Normale School in Chicoutimi, Quebec, before moving to Meriden, Connecticut, where she lived for over 60 years. It was there that she met and married Paul Emile Gosselin Sr. in 1949. Together they raised their family in a loving home while also tending to supplemental family businesses. Following Paul’s death, Jeanne married Roland Bisson in 1982. Jeanne was an active member of St. Laurent Church in Meriden, where she participated in the Ladies of St. Anne, and served as a Minister of Holy Communion. In 2010, Jeanne relocated to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where she was warmly welcomed and found a new spiritual home at St. Mary Church.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husbands, Paul and Roland, grandchild Laurel Ann Gosselin, and all 14 of her siblings. She is survived by her eight children: Michelle (Richard) Giannelli, Patrice (Donald) Sweet, Paul Gosselin Jr., David (Loretta) Gosselin, Renee (Maurice) Benoit, Louise (Kenneth) Gerlach, Ronald Gosselin, and Yvette (Lee) Chaffin. Jeanne also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and countless nieces and nephews in both the United States and Canada.
Jeanne loved her family deeply and prayed faithfully for them throughout her life. She cherished opportunities to travel to Connecticut and Canada to visit her widespread family. Jeanne maintained a gentle spirit and a surprising sense of humor throughout the challenges of her 99 years. Her enthusiasm for playing cards brought laughter to many gatherings. Jeanne’s ready smile and kind heart were a blessing to all who knew her.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to our sister, Renee, whose unwavering dedication for the last 6+ years has been beyond measure in providing a warm and caring home for Mom. We also thank our mother’s caregivers, Amy Milloway, Carol Peck, and the kind nurses and staff of UT Medical Center Hospice Services for their exemplary care.
Her family and friends will forever treasure her memory. May she rest in eternal peace in the presence of the Lord.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Church Oak Ridge 11:00 Saturday December 21, preceded by Recitation of the Rosary at 9:45, and Receiving of Friends at 10:00.
