James W. Robinette of Oak Ridge, Tennessee passed away on April 4, 2011 at 90 years of age.
Mr. Robinette was born June 12, 1920, in Cumberland, Maryland but lived in Japan, Germany, and other parts of the United States as part of his U. S. Army career but considered Tennessee his home. He was a veteran of the Normandy Invasion in World War II. After retirement from the military, he chose to work with young adults as a teacher at Fort Campbell High School and at Central High School in Clarksville-Montgomery County. He was a gifted woodworker who crafted furniture in his spare time and in his earlier years enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife, Jessie Robinette. He also received much enjoyment during the years volunteering with VITA in the Clarksville area, providing assistance to people with their tax returns.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jessie Robinette; parents, Maurice and Lorena Robinette; and all of his seven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Jim Heath of Acworth, Georgia; son Glenn Robinette of Santa Monica, California; son and daughter-in-law Randy and Betty Robinette of Clinton, Tennessee; grandchildren Leigh Ann Heath of Durango, Colorado; Wade Robinette of Clarksville, Tennessee; James and wife Valerie Robinette of Pasadena, Maryland; and great-grandchildren, Brody Robinette and Alec Robinette of Pasadena, Maryland.
The family wishes to thank the many kind and dedicated people who helped Mr. Robinette in the final few months from Methodist Medical Center, Briarcliff Rehabilitation Center, Clinch River Home Health, and East Tennessee Personal Care Services.
Burial following cremation will be at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee with military honors at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
