James Lee “Jim” Morgan, Jr., 95, of Clinton, TN, passed away on Oct. 17, 2024 in his home peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. 

Visitation will be 2-4pm Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at Mott-McKamey Funeral Home in Oak Ridge, TN. 

Jim was born in Arnoldsville, GA to James Lee Morgan, Sr & Viola Nelson-Morgan on September 17, 1929. He went to school at Arnoldsville, GA. 

Jim married Mary Stella French on July 19, 1952 in East Ridge, TN at Kingwood Baptist Church. He served in the Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes, then went into the Navy. He graduated IC School as class honorman and served on USS Philipine Sea aircraft carrier. He worked as an electrician/supervisor for Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Complex from 1953 to 1992 for 39 years.

He built 2 large orchid greenhouses, and operated “Morgan’s Orchids”. In 1964 he helped form the Smokey Mountain Orchid Society where he was very active. 

Jim is preceded in death by his wife Mary, parents and 10 siblings. 

Jim is survived by son Rusty & daughter-in-law Sheri Morgan, Grandchildren Lee Morgan & Stephanie Morgan-Campbell, Great grandchildren Morgan & Kaitlyn Campbell, Sister Jeanette Morgan-Bradley, and several cousins, nieces & nephews.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Hospice nurses Blake, Bridget & Chelsea, the VA, and to CAB caregivers Saleena & Ashley.
