James Richard (J.R.) Maggart of Clinton, TN, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2015, at his home with family by his side. He was born on November 28, 1946, in Cookeville, TN. J.R., grew up in Oak Ridge, graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1965 and retired from K-25 in Oak Ridge.
J.R. is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Virginia Maggart. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Glenn Teasley (Knoxville); his niece and her husband, Ashley and Wallace Dalton (Oak Ridge); great nephew, Riley Dalton (Oak Ridge); aunt and uncle, Peggy and Dow Burton (Clinton); aunt, Maxine Burton (Montana); and many cousins. J.R. was blessed with close friends who shared his enthusiasm for riding the highways on their Harley's throughout the U.S. Another passion of J.R.'s was working in his yard, which was well manicured, and making sure his many bird houses were always stocked. He loved sitting on his back porch watching "his" birds.
The family will receive friends on Thursday (5/28) at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home in from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Fred long officiating J.R., a long-time supporter of St. Jude's Hospital, requested that donations be made to his favorite charity in lieu of flowers:
