James G. Hart age 82 is in the care of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. James passed away at his home March 19, 2020 from congestive heart failure. He was born May 25, 1937 in Seneca, South Carolina to James Garland Hart and Mary Rudell Smith Hart. James was raised in Wolf Summit, West Virginia where he achieved the rank of Star Scout, BSA. Played High School Football, Basketball and Baseball. Graduated from Bristol High School, Bristol, West Virginia, West Virginia University (BS Chemical Engineering and member of ROTC Drill Team), New Jersey Institute of Technology (MS Engineering Management) Licensed Professional Engineer. Registered Environmental Manager. James served in West Virginia National Guard for 9 years achieving the rank of Sergeant (1092nd Engineering Batallion). Employed by Hercules, Inc., Olin Corporation, U.S. Army Material Command and U.S. Department of Energy. Retired after 29 years of government service. Retired in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. James was a member of Toastmasters International since 1980. Served as District 63 (Tennessee) Toastmaster Governor 1998-1999. Served as a Stephen Minister at First United Methodist church, Oak Ridge, TN 1999-2000. Member of Fellowship Evangelical Free Church, Knoxville, TN for 20 years and finally Two Rivers Church of Lenoir City Lenoir City, TN. He was an avid hiker with the Happy Hikers group of Knoxville after retirement in 2013. James was active in the Tea party movement beginning in 2009. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Yvonne Hart and brother; Ruben F. Hart of Zebulon, North Carolina and three step grandchilderen in Atlanta GA.
