It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved mother, Ho-Ling Hwang, on Monday, September 10th. Ho-Ling was 73 years old and passed away in Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Ho-Ling was born in Taiwan on August 27th, 1951 to Hwang Qiheng and Kou Fu-Chin.
Ho-Ling married Shih-Miao Chin and built a beautiful family as loving mother to Charles Chin and a doting grandmother to Elizabeth and Charlotte Chin. Her nurturing spirit, boundless love, and selfless devotion to her family were cornerstones of her life.
Beyond her family, Ho-Ling was known for her involvement with the Chinese American community in Knoxville and Oak Ridge, as well as her 40 years as a nationally recognized researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She was also heavily involved in the advocation of the sciences, training many student researchers to carry on her legacy. She was deeply respected and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Shih-Miao Chin, son Charles Chin and his wife Mary Katherine, and granddaughters Elizabeth Chin, and Charlotte Chin.
A Receiving of Friends and Service for Ho-Ling will take place on Sunday, Sept 15th from 2pm to 4pmat Mott-McKamey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Oak Ridge Public Schools Education Foundation in her memory.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and grace will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. We will miss her deeply, but find comfort knowing she is at peace.
