Helen Kastenbaum (Ganz) of Clermont, Fl, passed away on April 1, 2021.
Helen was a wonderful wife to Marvin Kastenbaum, who predeceased her, for over 62 years.
She was the loving daughter of Herman and Rose Ganz. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Rose Ganz, and brother, Milton Ganz.
Helen is survived by her son, Robert Kastenbaum and his wife Judy, of Clermont, FL. Helen is also survived by her daughter, Joan Marotto and her husband Harry, of East Haddam, CT.
Helen had four wonderful grandchildren: Joan's daughter and son Jamie Jackson and her fiancée Christopher Zaino; Daniel Jackson and his girlfriend Lindsay Pallay, of Watertown, NY; Bob and Judy's daughter and son, Kristine McCallister and her husband Scott, of Maine, and Andrew Kastenbaum, of Clermont. Helen was also the great-grandmother of Rue and Dahlia Zaino. She was also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Helen earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wayne State University in Michigan and her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. She and Marvin first lived in Oak Ridge, TN, raising Bob and Joan, until they moved to Potomac, MD. After enjoying many years, and many friends for over thirty years at Bryce Mountain in Basye, VA, they finally settled in Florida following their favorite sports golf and tennis. Helen had been a long-time athlete, teaching her family to ski, golf and play tennis. Helen and Marvin traveled extensively throughout the U.S. Caribbean and Europe While living in Port St. Lucie, FL, Helen spent a great deal of her time researching her family tree and entertaining her kids, grandkids, and finally the great grandkids, as well as many family members and friends. The last move for Helen and Marvin in Florida was to Clermont to be close to Bob and her grandchildren, Kristine and Andrew. Helen is now reunited with her husband, Marvin, her parents, Herman and Rose, and her brother Milton as well and numerous dear friends and relatives.
The funeral will be graveside at 3PM on Monday, April 5th, 2021 at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Beth El cemetery. Rabbi Victor Rashkovsky is officiating.
