Grace Pearson Langfur, age 101, of Oak Ridge, and formerly of Memphis,
passed away Jan. 5, 2018, at the home of her daughter, Sarah Stuart.
One of eight children, Grace was born in Waynesville, MO on
October 2, 1916, to Frances C. and Stella M. (Rollins) Pearson.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Grace served her country during WWII as a WAVE.
Following her military service, Grace married her husband, Joshua Langfur, and
began a lifelong adventure as a Navy wife. The consummate homemaker with
natural style, she cared for her two daughters - never skipping a beat - while her
husband, who was a Navy pilot, completed tours of duty that frequently took him
away from home for long periods of time. An excellent seamstress, Grace also had
a unique creative spirit that revealed itself in her crazy quilts and embroidery
designs.
An irreplaceable wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt
and friend, our Amazing Grace will be sadly missed.
She is survived by daughters Roseann White (Charles "Satch" Beasley) of Dixon
Springs, TN and Sarah Langfur Stuart (David) of Oak Ridge, TN; and brother
John Pearson, Collinsville, IL. She also leaves five grandchildren: Amanda
Meredith, Memphis; Megan Kuvvet (Emre), Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Dr. Jacob White
(Sarah), Fayetteville, AR; Adriana Stuart, Prescott, AZ; and Rebecca Stuart,
Knoxville; two great grandchildren: Gracie and Josie Kuvvet; and several special
nieces and nephews.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cdr. Joshua Langfur;
sisters Mabel Crumley, Agnes Mumford, Myrtle Gladden, Peggy McKenzie and
Louise McDougald; and brother Ted Pearson.
The family thanks her devoted caregivers Cheryl, Katrina, Kim and Julia for their kindness and friendship.
Burial was held Jan. 8 in the Beth El Cemetery, Oak Ridge, TN, with Rabbi Victor Rashkovsky officiating.
