George Obituary

January 7, 1925 — January 1, 2012

George W. Stair, age 86, of Clinton passed away Sunday January 1, 2012 at the Golden Living Center-Windwood in Clinton.
Mr. Stair was born January 7, 1925 in Clinton, Tennessee to the late George F. and Edith Bardill Stair. George was a World War II United States Army Veteran and served as a military policeman in the E.T.O. near the Battle of the Bulge. He met his wife while stationed in England. George was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Clinton and had worked for Associated Springs as a shipping clerk. In his spare time George enjoyed studying the genealogy of his family.
In addition to his parents George is preceded in death by his wife Margaret G. Strong Stair and is survived by two sons Brian Stair and his wife Mary Beth of Charlotte, NC, and Keith Stair of Lakeland, FL, his daughter Julie Strong Bowen and her husband Dennis of Lakeland, FL, two brothers Robert B. Stair of Clinton, TN, and James F. Stair and his wife Eugenia of Clinton, TN, seven grandchildren Amy Yarger, Lance Bowen, Branden Stair, Blake Stair, Sabrina Stair, Tonya Seaman, and Keith Michael Seaman, and five great grandchildren Grace Yarger, Rose Yarger, Tyler Tankka, Trever Tankka, and Jakob Bowen, and nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday January 4, 2012 8:00pm in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with Dr. Stephen Flick officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday January 5, 2012 11:00am at the Sunset Cemetery in Clinton, TN. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
