Lora Fern Renner Jackson of Oak Ridge,TN died October 12, 2015 at the age of 94. She was born September 27, 1921 in Greeneville, TN, to Herbert Alonzo Renner and Lacy Holt Renner. She lost her parents at an early age and grew up at Monroe Harding Children's Home in Nashville. There she had dozens of "brothers" and "sisters" and a special "mom," Miss Elizabeth Fuller. She graduated from Nashville Central High School and George Peabody College. She married Robert Lester Jackson, Sr. on October 22, 1943 and had been married 48 years at the time of Robert's death in 1991. She was a mathematician in the development of the P51 aircraft in World War II and later taught math at Karns High School. She was a member of Kern United Methodist Church. Mrs. Jackson loved gardening, sewing, crossword puzzles, conversation, and life in general.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law: Robert and Margaret Jackson of Somerville, AL; Alfred and Elaine Jackson of Smyrna, TN; William (Bill) and Sharon Jackson of Oak Ridge; and Henry Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO. and one grandson, Jonathan Jackson and his wife Emily of Knoxville, TN. Mrs. Jackson's husband, Robert Lester Jackson, Sr. and her brother, Herman Renner, precede her in death.
Visitation will be Friday, October 16 from 12:00-2:00 at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home, 1017 Oak Ridge Turnpike, with funeral to follow at 2:00 with Rev. Don Morris officiating. Interment will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
