Esther Nuhrah, 87, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at NHC Oak Ridge.
Born July 11, 1929, in Louisiana, she was a homemaker and wife to Dan, her beloved husband who died in 2003.
Esther loved her family above all things except her Savior. Her family and her church were her main interests in life. She was an extraordinary cook and seamstress. She will be deeply missed.
Esther was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge. She gave selflessly to her church, working in Parish Life, Outreach and Christian Education. She was a faithful member of the Daughers of the King at the church.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail Trentham, Patti Singletary, Peggy Volk, Jodi Majors and Jeanne Kring; grandchildren, Danny Shinn, J.J. Singletary, Bobbi Smith, Jamie Brown, Aaron Volk and Max Volk; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at St. Stephen's with the Rev. David Lovett officiating. Her remains will be buried in the St. Stephen's Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends at the church following the internment.
In lieu of flowers, people may give memorial donations to St. Stephen's.
A special thank you to NHC Oak Ridge. Our family will forever be grateful for the loving care given to our mother.
