Edith M. Roy, age 86, a resident of Oak Ridge since 2003, passed away quietly Thursday, May 5, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Mrs. Roy was the daughter of the late Wayne G. and Margaret McGowan Sr. of Covington, TN. Her brother, Wayne G. McGowan Jr, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Vershall Roy; her son, Kenneth and his wife Martha of Oak Ridge; her daughter Dorothy Horton and her husband Kurt Horton of Colorado; her son Donald of Florida; and daughter Margaret and her husband Rob Lanter of Texas; her sister Helen Stallworth of Covington, TN; five grandchildren and one great grandson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday May 7, 2011 10:00am at First Presbyterian Church The family will receive friends Saturday following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the First Presbyterian Church, Oak Ridge TN.
