Carole Mae James passed peacefully into our Lord’s care on December 26, 2022, near her home in Harriman, TN. She was 79. Carole was preceded in death by her mother Helen Phillips Susan (Ted) and father Wilber Grimes. She is survived by her husband Daryl of 51 years; her three sons Michael, Christopher (Karen), and Andrew (Jennifer); her five grandchildren: Kayleigh, Maisie, Lillian, Logan, and Olivia; her sisters Vicki Brown (Darrell), Gloria Blaski (Sonny), Wilda Grimes and many loved nieces and nephews.
Carole was a strong, focused, fun woman with an inviting smile who was committed to her family and faith. Originally from Michigan, she graduated from Troy High School, and worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines, before working her way up the corporate finance ladder in Dearborn as an accountant with the Ford Motor Company. After raising her sons in Troy and Rochester, she and Daryl retired to their dream lake house in Harriman, TN where they began their new life together committed to family, friends, and service in the church and community.
She had a passion for collectibles and antiques, and enjoyed world-travel, and backseat Harley- riding in East Tennessee. Carole lived life to its fullest, even skydiving on her 70th birthday.
A funeral service will be conducted on January 4th at St John Lutheran Church in Rochester Michigan. Visitation at 10 and funeral at 11. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Harriman, TN, or the Alzheimer's Association.
