Carl Penland

Carl Eugene Penland age 87 is in the care of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Carl passed away December 19, 2019 at Diversicare of Oak Ridge. He was born October 24, 1932 in Macon County, North Carolina to Henry and Effie Patterson Penland. After receiving his Bachelor degree at the University of Tennessee, Carl was employed as an electrical engineer for more than 30 years at Control Data Corporation, and also with Martin Marietta for 13 years. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife: Connie J. Penland, brother: Edwin H. Penland, sister: Bessie P. Hudson, nieces Donna Richardson and Sheila Hudson. He is survived by his sisters: Kate Amos, Elaine Griffies and Mabel Penland, nieces and nephews Anne Bissett, Sharon and Tim Rose, Michael and Wilma Penland. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Saturday December 21, 2019 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with Dr. Mark Walton officiating.
