It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and dear friend, Bonnie Albright Shoemaker, who passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 30th. Bonnie was truly one-of-a-kind, and her love, passion, and infectious humor touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Not only was she a proud mother, grandmother, sister and friend, but she was also an accomplished writer, editor, teacher, shift superintendent, college graduate, and master gardener, among other astute roles.
Bonnie was born on May 7, 1950 in Fairhope, Alabama. She was the fourth of five girls born to Mary and Stanley Albright. She moved to Clinton at age 4 when her father was on assignment in Oak Ridge. It was then that she and her three older sisters convinced her parents to set roots in Clinton. Bonnie met so many wonderful friends in Clinton, many of whom she was still close to up to her death.
She is survived by her children, Aaron Shoemaker (Kerri), Trey Shoemaker (Mattie) and Alison Shoemaker Poor (Joe), grandchildren, Owen, Hannah, Emma, LillyAnn, Jackson, Spencer, and Scarlet, and sister Jonnie Beets (Mark), along with many close nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 6th from 11am to 1pm at Mott-McKamey Funeral Home in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, with a service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Isaiah 117 House at P.O. Box 842 Elizabethton, TN 37644 at Bonnie's request.
Mott-McKamey Funeral Home is assisting the Shoemaker family.
