With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Billie Womack, 91, of Oak Ridge on Saturday afternoon, February 22, 2020.
She was born in Seymour, TN to Claude and Flora Murphy.
Billie married the love of her life, the late Floyd Womack, in 1947. The couple settled in Clinton and later Oak Ridge.
She began her career at MSI and Roane Anderson. In 1959 she began working at the Oak Ridge Public Library where she was the Director's Secretary. She most enjoyed working in the Children's Room, leading story time, and sharing her love of reading with children for 40 years before retiring in 1999.
She loved playing Rook, watching old movies, and any activity with her family. One of her greatest joys was visiting Disney World with her girls; 1972 began a yearly tradition. She was able to celebrate her 90th birthday there last year. Her coconut cake, little white cookies, and biscuits and gravy will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lee Thomas Bowers of Knoxville; brother, Eugene Alexander of Eugene, Oregon; and sister-in-law Schlaine Thomas.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tina Dotson (David) and one granddaughter, Grace, of Clinton; one brother, Joe Thomas of Seymour; brother-in-law Jim Bowers of Knoxville; special nieces Sherry Bell (John) and Madalyn Bryant (Seth) of Clinton.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents of Canterfield Assisted Living who loved her, treated her like family, and nicknamed her "Wild Bill".
Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Martin Funeral Home, Oak Ridge. Funeral service and burial will immediately follow at Chilhowee Cemetery in Seymour, TN with Pastor Michael Thompson presiding.
Billie's family will serve as pallbearers.
Those of us left behind are sad for our loss, but we rejoice in knowing that she is happy with her Savior and those who passed before. Online messages may be left for the family at
