Betty Moore Dameron passed away on Thursday, September 22 after a lengthy illness. Born in Coalfield, TN, Ms. Dameron lived in many places from San Francisco to Wuerzburg, Germany, and she spent many years in Oak Ridge and Knoxville.
Ms. Dameron retired from TVA in 2014. She was very dedicated to her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her yard, reading novels, and staying abreast of current events, but she was happiest when performing acts of kindness for others. She was an avid sports fan who would often play pick-up games of baseball and basketball with her children.
Ms. Dameron was preceded in death by her father, Howard Moore; mother, Grace Hart Moore; and seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Claudette Monday of Knoxville; Dr. Lance Hatfield and Dr. Laura Hatfield of Forest, VA; and, John and Rita Hatfield of Madisonville, TN. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Stefan Hatfield of Oak Ridge; Alex Hatfield of Fort Payne, AL; Brighton Hatfield of Paris, France; Kayli Hatfield of Madisonville; and, Lindsay and Jackson Hatfield of Forest, VA.
Receiving of friends is scheduled for Saturday, September 24 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Oak Ridge with a funeral mass to follow immediately after.
