Bessie Hudson

Bessie P. Hudson, age 89, is in the care of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Bessie passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 3, 2018 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was born December 23, 1928 in Scaly Mountain, North Carolina to Henry Oden Penland and Effie Patterson Penland. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James E. Hudson; daughter, Sheila M. Hudson and brother Edwin H. Penland. She served her country at the Y-12 plant for 44 years, from which she retired. Bessie was a lifelong member of Glenwood Baptist Church. She loved reading, cooking, gardening and canning homegrown vegetables, but most of all, Bessie loved her family. Bessie is survived by her Grandchildren; Jessica Mund, Christopher Hudson, Chelsiann Hudson, Great grandchildren; Ashlee Copeland, Alyssah Copeland, McKenna Hudson. sisters; Kate P. Amos, Mabel I. Penland and Elaine P. Griffies. Brother; Carl E. Penland. Nieces; Ann P. Bissett, Sharon E.(Tim) Rose, Joyce R. Isenhour. Nephew; Michael K. (Wilma) Penland Visitation with the family will be from 11am until 1 pm Saturday January 6, 2017 at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 1pm with the Rev. Mark Walton officiating.
