Armond Neil Halsey - age 81 passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on February 8, 1930 in Springfield, South Dakota. He was veteran of the Korean War and received a purple heart for injuries sustained there. He retired in Knoxville in 1994 after serving many years as a construction manager and trouble-shooter for Morrison-Knudsen Construction Company. He was an avid wood-worker and craftsman. He was preceded in death by his parents Armond Dell Halsey and Maud Pearl Halsey, his wife of 50 years Pansy Pearl Halsey, brother Tom Halsey and his sister Bettie Merkwan. He is survived by his three sons and their wives, Terry and Margaret Halsey, Jeff and Neina Halsey and Kelly and Becky Halsey as well as three grandchildren of whom he was exceptionally proud, Grant, Katie and Zoey Halsey. He is also survived by his sisters Margie Jensen and Beverlee & Wayne Everson and many nieces and nephews. The family will have private graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Neil's name to The CADES Memorial Fund (adult daycare for dementia sufferers) at Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Drive, Knoxville, TN 37922 or Young-Williams Animal Center, 3201 Division Street, Knoxville, TN 37919.
